What I Did (with Salt) | Rossana F. Photography

Last week I was asked to send a photo from Rio Maior’s salines, to be placed in an exposition – “Moments with Salt”. Last year I had been there once, in a shot & run visit.
It was a tough choice, I had to choose the best among fifty lousy pictures. With a bit of hope, imagination and image processing I manage to get 5 photos.
Before I show you the photos, I will say a few words about Salt!
It is a mineral. Too much will likely kill you, too few will kill you too. Our organism needs it but only in small quantities.
Salt is as old as the World itself. It has many usages and is a symbolic element in a variety of religions. It enriches our meals, has purifying and relaxing effects. Nowadays there are campaigns to reduce salt consumption because of its effects on human health. But other usages are spreading all around, an example is its widely use in SPA resorts.

The saline waters are seven times saltier than the sea.
